Board members are elected at the end of every fall semester and serve through a whole calendar year! While our designated roles may vary, we all work together to make our events a success!
CATHY DUONG
Co-President
Morse '22
Hometown: Garden Grove, CA
Major: English
I’m Cathy, from Garden Grove, CA. I love (over)analyzing all things Vietnamese, from the briefest references to Vietnam in Western pop culture, to art, literature, and film created by the talented Viet diaspora. I’m always down to talk about Viet identity, French colonialism, the rift with our elders, postmemory - especially over some avocado smoothies & boba! Favorite...hobby - penpalling - novel: The Book of Salt - artist: Thinh Suy - K-drama: A Piece of Your Mind. ♡ Ngô Ngọc Hưng/HANBIN_BELIFT stan.
KELLY LONG
Co-President
My name’s Kelly, and I’m incredibly grateful to be serving as one of ViSA’s co-presidents this year! I’m a sophomore in JE originally from Dallas, Texas, and majoring in MB&B. When I’m not putting my few remaining functioning brain cells trying to think of ways that ViSA can become an even more welcoming space for Viet students at Yale, I’m being the biggest SZA stan ever (stream Good Days) or listening to VPOP (stan Min).

I am thrilled to be ViSA’s secretary to inform you all about fun and exciting opportunities events that ViSA will be hosting this coming year, as well as weekly curated Vpop lists!
HILLARY NGUYEN
Treasurer
Chào các bạn! My name is Hillary, and I’m ViSA’s Treasurer. I’m currently a sophomore in Morse. Besides being a pre-med neuroscience major, I enjoy singing, making digital art, and doing the Pomodoro Technique with frequent procrastination. My favorite piece is Chopin’s Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23. I have a pet hamster named Boba, and my favorite Viet food is phở bò with a lot of bone marrow :)

Hometown: Saigon, Vietnam
Major: Global Affairs
Xin chào! My name is Cam and I am a senior in TD from Saigon, Vietnam. Prior to Yale, I attended Bunker Hill Community College where I earned an Associate degree. Currently, I am majoring in Global Affairs and pursuing a certificate in Data Science. I love all kinds of noodle (including phở of course!) and enjoy cooking, reading, doing yoga and scrolling through memes in my free time. It has been lovely to be part of such a close-knit community at Yale and I am thrilled to be the Political Chair for this year! We are working hard to organize fun and engaging events and spread Vietnamese culture on campus. Please stay tuned!
TRAMY NGUYEN
Cultural Chair Lead
Hi! My name is Tramy, and I’m a first year in Saybrook studying Cognitive Science & S&DS! I joined ViSA last semester as a First-Year Liaison, and I’m excited to be Cultural Lead this year! When I’m not stressing over classes or stressing over planning events for ViSA, you can find me avoiding the cold weather by sleeping at odd hours and at odd locations throughout the day!

HAN DINH
Event Chair
Hello! My name is Han and I'm so excited to serve as an event chair this year. If you see me in person, the first thing you will definitely notice is that I lack height. I'm 4'10" and repping all the tinies out there! Being Vietnamese is such a crucial part of my identity and I hope to contribute as much of that into ViSA.

CLAIRE SATTLER
Social Chair
Pauli Murray '23
Hometown: Bonita Springs, FL
Major: MCDB, Theater and Performance Studies
Xin chào các bạn! My name is Claire and I’m so excited to be one of the social chairs of ViSA this year. I’m in the Class of 2023, a proud member of Pauli Murray College, and a double major in 2 of the possibly most unrelated fields at Yale: Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology & Theater and Performance Studies. Phew. That’s a mouthful. My passions include musical theatre, set design, useless trivia, worrying about medical school, boba, and per my Floridian roots: Cuban food. I’m also mixed race (if my name didn’t give it away!), so being so warmly embraced by the ViSA community has really been a meaningful part of learning about my Vietnamese-American identity and a highlight of my Yale career.
TEDDY HOANG
Social Chair
My name is Teddy and I am one of the social chairs this year! I am currently on Leave of Absence, but I'll be a sophomore studying economics this upcoming fall. I'm looking forward to keeping everyone connected through virtual ViSA events this spring that can (hopefully) blossom into exciting in-person events in the fall! See you all around
